I like to eat and also like to be healthy. To have healthy vegetable meals is a help to reach my goal.

This cabbage recipe is one of the best vegan recipes I have You don't have to be a vegetarian to enjoy it.

It's easy to do and taste delicious. It's one of the cabbage recipes I used a lot when I was living in Beijing. I still use it pretty often today.


  • Chinese cabbage -- 1 head
  • Vegetable oil -- 2 tablespoons
  • Red pepper flakes -- ½ teaspoon
  • Garlic -- 2 tablespoon, minced
  • Rice wine -- 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce -- 1 tablespoon, (use organic soy sauce if possible.)
  • Sesame oil -- 1 teaspoon
  • Ginger root -- 2 tablespoon, minced
  • Sesame seeds -- (optional),1 tablespoon, toasted
  • Carrot -- (optional),about 1 tablespoon, shredded


Step 1: Chinese Cabbage Recipe

  • Clean the cabbage and cut it into big pieces or shred it.

  • Put rice wine, soy sauce, sesame oil, and ginger root in a small bowl; stir together and then set aside.

Step 2:

  • Heat the oil in a wok over medium-high heat.

  • Add red pepper flakes and minced garlic, stir-fry until it becomes aromatic but not scorched.

  • Add cabbage and stir-fry until limp, but not mushy.

  • Add contents of seasoning bowl and cook, stirring 1-2 minutes more.

  • Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and shredded carrot. You are ready to serve.

Tip: You can add a bit of onion powder to give it some depth if you like. There is room to be creative!
