This Chinese lemon sauce recipe offers the possibilities to variations of many meals. It's perfect for baked chicken, beef, pork, seafood or steamed veggies. Just pour it on the baked meat o steamed vegetables and serve.


  • Sugar -- 1/2 cup
  • Chicken broth -- 2/3 cup
  • Lemon peel -- 2 teaspoon grated
  • Lemon juice -- 6 tablespoons
  • Light corn syrup -- 4 tablespoons
  • Rice vinegar -- 4 tablespoons
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garlic -- 2 clove, minced
  • Cornstarch -- 4 teaspoons
  • Cold water -- 2 teaspoons


  1. Put the cornstarch in cold water, stir well

  2. In a small saucepan, put in the rest of the ingredients and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.

  3. Stir the cornstarch mixture into sauce. Keep stirring until thickened.

  4. Serve warm, or cool it and store in the refrigerator. You can keep it there up to 2 weeks. If you use the refrigerated sauce, warm it before serving.
