Chinese pepper steak recipe allows you to have an easy, fast, and good meal.
“The only time to eat diet food is while you're waiting for the steak to cook” -- Julia Child
If you like to try quick and easy recipes Chinese style, this definitely is one of the beef recipes I recommend. I have quite a few quick recipes that I use and enjoy very often. This is one of them.
Beef sirloin -- 1 pound, boneless, (or use round steak), cut into 1-inch squares. (Tip: First slice steak into thin strips. Make sure to cut across the grain; it will have a better result.)
Hoisin sauce -- 1 tablespoon, plus another 1/4 cup
Vegetable oil -- 2 tablespoons
Bell peppers -- 2, cut into 1-inch squares.
(Tip: To have one green and the other red will make the dish more appealing.)
Onions -- 2, cut into 1-inch squares
Mushrooms -- 1 cup, (optional, I personally like it.)
Garlic -- 4 clover, minced or sliced
Ginger -- 2 teaspoon, minced
Marinate beef with 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce for a few minutes when you prepare the veggies.
Preheat wok, then put in 1 tablespoon vegetable oil over high heat. ( You can use a large skillet if you don't have a wok), add beef and stir-fry until it's not raw anymore. Remove.
Heat another 1 tablespoon oil in wok and put in garlic and ginger to sir-fry until aromatic, then add in peppers, onions and mushrooms; stir-fry 5 minutes.
Add in ¼ cup Hoisin sauce for a few quick stir, then add in beef to stir-fry until both beef and veggies are coated with sauce.
Remove. Serve and ENJOY.
Tip: Be creative. Cooking is an art that wants your "taste-nality" to shine. This is one of the Chinese recipes that encourage you to add or take away some of the ingredients to suit your taste. Hey, maybe you'd like to add some spice to it to make this pepper steak a little hot.
