These spring roll recipes are great for parties and family getherings. Delicious and easy to make.
Spring roll is a popular Chinese dim sum with a symbolic meaning for greeting and celebrating the coming of spring, which brings hope of a new prosperous year. Normally it contains julienned fresh raw vegetables.
It's nice to see that this special Chinese New Year dish has been spreaded around the year and around the world. People make it anytime they please. And some famed western chefs have integrated it into their recipe treasure box, such as Bobby Flay.
There are two common types of spring rolls. One is deep fried and is also called egg rolls. Here is an egg roll recipe. One is very light, showed as the picture above.
Some people try to distinguish the two types. Actually, they are all called spring rolls or egg rolls. The names are interchangeable.
Put dip ingredients in a bowl, mix well.
This step is for those who don't like veggies very raw. Boil a pot of water, merge the veggies in for a few seconds and take them out.
Toss together all ingredients together except wrappers ina large bowl.
Submerge spring roll wrappers in hot water until pliable, about 15 seconds.
Place about 2 tablespoons of mix on wrapper and wrap your spring rolls (see dierections below).
Serve with dipping sauce and enjoy!
Place a wrapper onto your work surface. Place about 3 tablespoons of filling in a heap onto the bottom third of the wrapper, then fold the bottom over the filling and roll firmly to the halfway point.
Fold the left side snugly over the spring roll towards the center, then fold the right side towards the center. Roll.
Fold the left and right sides , and then continue rolling until the top corner. Seal the egg roll with the egg white.
